Swim lessons restart
Swimming lessons are due to restart from the end of May if restrictions allow, according to Renfrewshire Leisure bosses.
The charity’s popular Learn to Swim programme ran in pools across the district until the first lockdown in March 2020.
Since then, although pools have reopened for family and lane swimming, lessons haven’t been able to take place.
Now Renfrewshire Leisure has confirmed it is working towards starting at the end of May.
A spokesman for Renfrewshire Leisure said: “The team at Renfrewshire Leisure are working towards a phased programme return for swimming lessons, beginning to restart from the end of May so long as Covid- 19 restrictions allow.
“This will initially focus on the return of the beginners’ programme.
“Details are currently being finalised and will be shared as soon as it is possible to do so.”
All Renfrewshire Leisure swimming pools and gyms reopened on Monday, April 26 as the area moved to tier three restrictions.
As well as the pools which opened before Christmas, Renfrew Victory Baths reopened following maintenance work, with extended opening hours in place.
The gym at Johnstone Community Sports Hub will be open outside of school hours while Johnstone swimming pool remains closed pending maintenance work.
Gym facilities previously at Park Mains High School will be located at Erskine Sports Centre. This is to support the school with its coronavirus mitigation measures.
Gym and swim sessions must be pre- booked via phone on 0300 300 0250 or www. renfrewshire leisure. com
