Man arrested after policep stand-off

A man was arrested after a stand-off at a Barrhead flat on Monday afternoon.

The incident left some residents unable to pick up children from school.

Police raced to the scene in Barnes Street after being called in around 12.40pm.

A man in the flat had been causing a disturbance and both ends of the street were sealed off.

Police teams with riot shields brought the situation under control after around two hours.

A police spokesman said: “Due to immediate concerns for the male’s welfare, entry was forced to the property.

“He was found safe and well within and arrested for a number of offences.”
