- RORY CASSIDY

A man has been remanded in custody over claims he left another man scarred for life by bottling him in the street.

Daniel McCrudden is said to have attacked Lewis Beaton in Renfrew last week.

Prosecutors claim McCrudden, 20,“did strike him on the head with a glass bottle to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement” in Newmains Road, Renfrew.

McCrudden was detained by police in connection with the alleged offence and was held in police custody before appearing in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday afternoon to face the assault rap and four other charges.

Prosecutors also claim McCrudden, of Paisley, stole a mobile phone, broke bail conditions by being outwith his home during a 7pm to 7am curfew, damaged a car, and carried out another attack, assaulting Kamran Ali by repeatedly kicking him on the body.

McCrudden was represented by defence solicitor Charlie McCusker during his short hearing, where he made no plea to the five charges .

Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill continued the case against McCrudden for prosecutors to investigate further, and remanded him in custody.

McCrudden is expected to make a second court appearance in connection with the case next week.
