Police probe attack on man
Cops have launched an appeal after a man was attacked and found injured in a Johnstone street.
The 26- year- old victim was discovered in the town’s George Street after concerned members of the public raised the alarm.
It’s still unclear if he sustained his injuries in the street or managed to make his way there after being assaulted.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to his wounds, which have not been disclosed by investigators.
Officers probing the incident, which happened at around 4pm on Thursday, have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Ins p e c t o r D a m i a n Kane, from Renfrewshire’s community policing team, said: “Police were called to reports of an injured man in George Street, Johnstone, at around 4pm on Thursday.
“A 26- year- old man was transported to hospital shortly thereafter.
“We believe the man was the victim of an assault and we are appealing to members of the public who may have been in and around the George Street area of Johnstone around this time to come forward if they saw anything suspicious.
“If y o u have any information in relation to this incident then we would like to hear from you.”
Meanwhile, cops are probing an attempted breakin at a house in Lochwinnoch.
The police dog unit was called to Station Rise around 1am on Friday after members of the public heard glass being smashed.
A broken window was discovered in a house but it is understood no one was able to get inside.
Police launched a search of the surrounding area but couldn’t trace the crook.
Inspector Kane added: “We are investigating an attempted break-in at Station Rise, Lochwinnoch. at around 1am on Friday.
“If you saw or heard anything suspicious in the area then please get in touch with officers.”
