Memorial benches fund is on target

-

A fundraiser launched by a community garden group to replace sentimental memorial benches that were stolen by heartless vandals is on its way to hitting its £1000 target.

Volunteers at Erskine Community Garden have so far raised £700 to replace one stolen bench, which was installed in March last year in tribute to Rottweiler/ German Shepherd cross Bruno.

The well-known pooch was owned by garden volunteer Joan McGregor, and was famous among residents in Erskine, who called dubbed him the Sheriff of Boden Boo.

The memorial bench was discovered months after it was stolen, but was unfortunately damaged beyond repair.

Volunteers have already come up with a plan to replace the bench and are now raising funds to pay for a new bespoke memorial bench, which will be the centrepiece of the new dog park, complete with an obstacle course for pooches.
