It’s ten out of ten for kind Lily

-

A thoughtful youngster is using her tenth birthday to help raise funds for the Erskine veterans charity by taking part in a walking challenge.

Determined Lily McBride will be walking 10km every day for ten days in the lead up for her birthday on June 7.

The nine-year-old chose to fundraise for Erskine as her dad Andrew is a former serviceman and the family knew a friend who last year passed away in the Erskine Home - which is based in Renfrewshire.

The generous schoolgirl, who is from Balloch, West Dunbartonshire is looking forward to completing the though challenge - which totals roughly 63 miles - before having a well-earned rest on her birthday.

She has so far raised $475 of her £500 target.

Erskine community fundraiser Colin McPhail said: “It is wonderful that Lily has come up with this unique challenge and we are incredibly impressed with her kindness and thoughtfulness.

“Our residents will be so touched to learn that Lily is walking every day to raise money for them and we are all cheering her on all the way.

“At Erskine we need to raise over 10 million pounds annually, so the support of community fundraisers like Lily is really important to our vital work caring for veterans.”
