Man, 49, arrested over fire at house

A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged murder bid blaze in Renfrew.

Two men and a woman were forced to flee their burning home in Western Park Gate in the early hours of Sunday morning after it was allegedly set alight.

Cops, who are treating the incident as attempted murder, last night confirmed a man had been arrested.

A Police Scotland spokesman said:“A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this alleged incident and enquiries continue.”

No one was seriously injured in the fire however the house suffered extensive damage.

Fire crews raced to the scene at around 3.10am on Sunday morning.
