Top tales promised by artist Beatrice
Paisley & District U3A is preparing to welcome a talented feature artist, blogger, writer and science communicator to their latest meeting next month.
Beatrice von Preussen will join members on Thursday, June 3 to talk about her extrordinary life, in which the intrepid writer and artist has made trips to both ends of the earth as part of her scientific and artistic career.
Beatrice will share stories from her career as an artist, explorer, printmaker and illustrator during the online meeting, which will take place from 2pm until 3.30pm.
Members and guests can question Beatrice about her adventures in the Arctic and Antarctic, and chair of U3A’s Kathy O’Donnell is delighted to be welcoming the adventurer to the group.
She said: “Most of us dream of journeying round the world at our leisure. Whereas, Beatrice von Preussen has joined scientific visits to the north and south poles to combine her love of art, nature and science.
“Drawings of polar bears and penguins appeared in her London exhibition of illustration and printmaking from the Arctic and Antarctic.
“We can expect captivating stories by this blogger, writer, science communicator, and former artist in residence at Battersea Park Children’s zoo.
“As this event follows national U3A Day, we hope to have a larger viewing audience.
“Our members are able to invite friends along to hear tales from the frozen ends of the earth.”
Delving into sketch books, photo albums and diaries made during her travels, Beatrice will illustrate two extraordinary environments on earth.
She said: “I’m very much looking forward to sharing my experiences and enjoying a good discussion with U3A members.”
