Man, 30, charged with cop assault

A 30-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly threw a police officer’s bike at him.

It’s claimed the man was knocked back from the Last Post pub in Paisley’s Moss Street before causing a disturbanc­e in Greggs on Tuesday afternoon.

The man allegedly became aggressive to bicycle cops who went to challenge him at around 12.50pm.

It’s said he kicked off and threw an officer’s bike at him, causing him to fall over.

He was restrained and arrested at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoma­n said:“A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged police assault in Paisley town centre on Tuesday, May 25.

“A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
