Murder accused in court

A 39- year- old man has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman in Renfrew.

It is claimed Craig Walker killed Lauren Wilson, 34, at a flat in Cardon Square on Wednesday night.

He is also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Walker made no plea or declaration during a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon.

He was remanded in custody and is due to make a second appearance within eight days.

Police cordoned off a block of flats around 11.45pm on Wednesday. Ms Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.
