Woman accused of trying to start fight

A woman is facing trial in Paisley for allegedly challengin­g a couple to fight and repeatedly kicking their door.

Sapphire Martin, 35, is accused of shouting and swearing at Linda McKinnon and Murray Bar during an incident at Shortroods Road in the town on May 3.

Martin is also accused of shouting at her partner Craig Swan and trying to hit him during the same incident.

She pleaded not guilty to both charges when she made a brief appearance at Paisley Sheriff Court this week.

Papers reveal Martin, of Rowan Street in the town, is accused of behaving in a threatenin­g and abusive manner, in that she repeatedly shouted, swore and challenged the couple to fight, attended at their home and repeatedly kicked their door.

Martin is also alleged to have shouted at

Mr Swan, and lunged towards him in an attempt to strike him.

Defence agent Bob Kerr confirmed his client was pleading not guilty.

She will face trial on July 23, with a pre-trial hearing fixed for June 30, and was released on bail.
