Widow forced out for family
Lane, Renfrew, on which she had recently spent more than £100 in modernisation, the widow said:“The surveyors have been here looking over Mrs MacKenzie’s home, but they haven’t even asked me if I want to move.
“I asked them for a transfer to a smaller house when my husband died, but there hasn’t been any mention since.”
Angrily, she added:“If they are willing to rehouse me in suitable surroundings and compensate me for the money I’ve put into the place recently, I won’t mind.”
Across the landing, Mrs MacKenzie said:“I am, of course, desperate to have my children back – but certainly not at the expense of Mrs McCann.”
Provost Stephen Cameron said:“We decided that all the stops must be pulled out to get this family back together again.”
Councillor Robert Bentley said later:“I am sure the officials who are dealing with this have put Mrs McCann in the picture.”
