Premier Sports Cup draw revealed

Jim Goodwin’s Saints will take on Dunfermline Athletic, Stenhousemuir, Partick Thistle and Dumbarton in the Premier Sports Cup group stage.

The draw - revealed yesterday - has St Mirren placed as top seeds in the South Section , drawn in Group H.

Group winners for the Premier Sports Cup – previously known as the League Cup –will qualify for the round of 16.

They will be joined by the three best runners-up along with Rangers, Celtic, Hibernian, Aberdeen and St Johnstone.

Fixture dates and venues will be confirmed in due course.

It means the Saints will meet Partick Thistle once again after they were in the same group as the Jags last year.

And the Buddies will be hoping to go one step further than last year’s semi-final stage when they were knocked out by Livingston.

Group stage games are scheduled for the weekend of July 10/11, midweek of July 13/14, weekend of July 17/18, midweek of July 20/21 and weekend of July 24/25 subject to live TV selections.
