A convicted sex offender has been caught with a vile cache of indecent images of young girls for the second time.
David Munro, 51, was snared with pictures of girls as a young as ten being sexually abused when child protection cops checked out his house.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard Munro - who was caged for 27 months in September 2018 for distributing and hoarding child abuse films - was busted again on February 5.
Procurator fiscal depute David McDonald told the court police officers who monitor sex offenders in Renfrewshire visited the house in Johnstone where Munro lives with his parents.
He said: “Constables attended the home address in Johnstone and both were allowed entry by the accused’s mother.
“He was found in a bedroom upstairs. He was asked if he could switch on his Xbox console.
“He was also asked to switch his TV to the channel displaying the Xbox.
“Officers observed the browser Duck, Duck Go, which allows users to search without retaining information.
“On another tab, officers saw the word ‘p****’ and noticed several images of young females engaged in sexual acts.
“These females were younger than 16 years old.
“Other terms observed on tabs were ‘Lolita,’ ‘teen Cute’ and ‘proscribed p****’.”
The court heard cops cautioned Munro as they believed they had witnessed indecent images of children on his gaming rig.
He was taken to the police station and questioned when he first claimed he had “not been looking for indecent images”.
When asked why he was on these sites, he replied: “I thought it was just for teenage lassies.”
When shown one image of a youngster found, he admitted: “Aye, she looks younger than 16.”
Munro also admitted he “had not been honest” with cops about his conduct.
Cyber crime experts analysed his gaming device and discovered nine images depicting the sexual abuse of girls aged as young as ten.
One was category A, two were category B and the remainder were classed as category C.
He appeared via video link from prison and pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of indecent images of children on February 5.
Defence agent Jim Clark said the court would likely be considering an extended sentence given his client’s record.
Mr Clark also reserved his submission in defence of Munro until after the court had obtained background reports in preparation for sentencing.
Sheriff Bruce Erroch remanded Munro in custody
He told him: “It is appropriate that I have the fullest information available so I will call for reports.”
Munro will return on June 18.
