Dorothy’s not in Kansas any more
Morrisons transforms into Oz for fundraiser
There has been no place like Morrisons this week as the supermarket giant continues its fund- raising for an incredible cause.
The Anchor Mills outlet transformed into a Wizard of Oz extravaganza as staff and loyal customers raise cash for CLIC Sargent.
A lifeline agency that supports children with cancer and their families, the charity has been working with Morrisons as part of a four-year fundraising partnership.
CLIC Sargent has been using much of the money raised nationwide to fund the build of a new hospice in Manchester.
To be called Jack’s House, the hospice aims to provide a home away from home for children and families who are fighting cancer.
And to highlight the homely theme, staff at the Paisley store have been donning their Dorothy and scarecrow costumes to bring a little bit of magic to the shop and the fundraising scheme.
Sharon Dennison, community champion at Morrisons Anchor Mills, said the Wizard of Oz theme was so appropriate for the cause.
Bringing some colour to the store, fun days have seen staff dress up as the iconic characters while rainbow balloons, a toy lion and Toto dog have delighted youngsters who visited last weekend.
Sharon said: “This is part of a twoweek fundraising drive and this Sunday is the last day. At the moment we have raised £570 and we hope to reach our target of £1,000.”
She added: “We have a raffle in store and for people who want to donate but don’t carry cash there is a button on the tills which will allow them to make a donation when they are paying fo their shopping and it is just added to their bill.”
