Man passes away on street
A man died yesterday morning despite a desperate bid to save him.
Emergency services raced to Glasgow Road in Barrhead around 11.30am.
He had suddenly taken ill near the site where a new crematorium is being built close to The Hurlet.
Police vehicles and an ambulance raced to the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers were called to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service to a person who had taken unwell in the Glasgow Road area at around 11.30am.
“The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, his family have been informed and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
