Fancy buying a new pad?

-

An ancient volcanic plug and it’s surrounding land has erupted onto the market at over £900,000.

It was fired onto ground above Neilston millions of years ago by an angry volcano.

Now it’s a well-known beauty spot known as Neilston Pad and popular with walkers from the village around a mile away.

The new owner will bag lucrative stands of forestry as well as two lochs on 433 acres.

Agent and land manager Galbraith is handling the sale.

The cost of timber is currently going through the roof and the Pad - officially called Craig O’Neilston - has plenty of mature woodland.

The property suffered a blow two years ago when more than 30 acres of Larch had to be felled after it was infected with Phytophthora ramorum.

But the area was quickly replanted with genetically improved Sitka spruce and none of the disease-prone Larch remain.

A spokesman for Galbraith said:“This is an extensive areas of commercial and mixed amenity woodland suitable for forestry planting potential.

“Two large lochs have fishing potential in an idyllic setting.”

The sale also includes pasture and grazing for livestock.
