Dad of man killed in cliff fall tragedy brings body home
Father flies back from Portugal after £20k raised for repatriation
The father of the Paisley man killed in a Portuguese cliff accident has returned home with his body.
Stuart Kerr had flown out to Faro Airport after the devastating news his son Andy had been killed.
Andy had been on holiday on the Algarve with his girlfriend Karolina Markevica when he died while cliff jumping.
Describing his son and posting a fun video, Stuart said: “What a character.”
He had jetted out to Faro Airport last week to repatriate his son’s body and attend to official registration requirements.
Stuart arranged a flight as soon as he could after nearly £ 20,000 was raised by griefstricken friends and wellwishers.
Stuart said: “You guys are awesome.
“My heart has been lifted by your generous donations. “Thank you all.”
The Pro-Life Fitness Centre in Paisley, where Andy was a highly popular and inspirational figure, made a £500 donation.
On Thursday Stuart posted: “Glad to be home.
“Worst trip ever. Thanks for all the kind words.”
We revealed last week Andy, Karolina and his mum Jane were among family enjoying a night out at Ingliston Country Club in Bishopton just days before the holiday.
He published a photo with his mum, saying: “Me n mum. Love ya xxx.”
Jane Kerr’s reply said: “Love you back more than you will ever ever know.”
The exact circumstances of his death, or where it happened, have not emerged.
Andy was a goalkeeper for Gleniffer Thistle and was well known in the town, enjoying keeping super-fit
Karolina said Andy had died “in a cliff jumping accident” and added: “Andy was the love of my life, best friend, my rock.
“Andy dedicated his life to helping and motivating others to achieve their best, to improve their lifestyle, to become successful.
“Charming, independent, energetic and compassionate, Andy was and will be our mentor, who could have changed the world with just an idea.”
