Fund to get folk online
Organisations in Renfrewshire can now apply for a share of a £ 26million Connecting Scotland grant which aims to help give low-income and vulnerable groups access to technology.
The Scottish Government funding programme aims to help thousands of people gain new online skills and training to help improve their chances of securing a job or to reduce isolation.
Groups in the area have until July 5 to apply for a share of the funds, which have been allocated to help those on lower incomes and groups like the elderly, gain online training skills as well as provide people with devices like iPads and Chromebooks, and unlimited data for two years.
Finance and Economy Secretary Kate Forbes said: “With technology playing an increasingly important role in our society, ensuring people can get online and have the right skills and training is even more important to Scotland’s recovery from the pandemic.”
