Cops hunt for blade attackers
A man was left with“significant injuries” to his face after he was targeted in a brutal slash attack.
Two blade-wielding thugs pounced on the 51-year-old victim in Ferguson Street, Renfrew on Saturday evening.
The man was walking with a woman when he was slashed and stabbed to the head and face by two men.
He was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment to his wounds, which police yesterday described as “significant.”
A manhunt is now underway for the knife fiends as detectives probe possible motives for the senseless street attack.
Cops are reviewing CCTV opportunities in the area and carrying out door-to-door enquires nearby in a bid to gather evidence.
They are also appealing to any witnesses or members of the public with information to come forward.
Inspector Damian Kane, from Renfrewshire’s community policing team, said: “A 51- year- old man sustained significant injuries to his head and face when he was attacked by two men in Ferguson Street, Renfrew at around 5.40pm on Saturday.
“The victim was walking with a female when he was approached by two males. An altercation took place during which the two males produced bladed weapons and seriously assaulted the victim.
