Police probe blaze at nursery

Police in Paisley are appealing for informatio­n following a deliberate fire at Hillview Nursery.

Tyres from the play area at the nursery on Blackstoun Road were moved and placed underneath a large storage container and set alight at around 8.45pm on Friday.

The container subsequent­ly caught fire, causing extensive damage to the container and the contents, which included children’s bikes.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguish­ed the fire.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Officers are treating the fire as deliberate and are appealing for anyone with informatio­n to come forward.

Detective Constable Gordon Hunt, of Paisley CID, said: “This completely reckless act has resulted in key equipment provided for children at the nursery being destroyed. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any unusual or suspicious activity to contact us.
