Have your voice heard ... like Josh
Young Buddies with a passion for making life better for their peers are being urged to apply for the Scottish Youth Parliament.
The SYP is made up of around 166 democratically-elected representatives aged 14 to 25 from across Scotland. Representatives are known as Members of the Scottish Youth and work to ensure that young people’s voices are heard by the decision makers in Scotland.
They also campaign on the issues which matter most to Scotland’s youth.
Josh Kennedy, from Renfrewshire, is the current chair of the SYP and is urging fellow young people from the area to step forward for the next parliamentary term.
“Being an MSYP has changed my life,”he said.
“It has allowed me to make friends when I wasn’t that confident before, friends that I will have for life.
“It’s let me build on my debating skills, and communications kills.
“It has let me travel Scotland and learn more about it, travel to other countries and to London, to the UK Parliament, Brussels, the European Parliament, and to Geneva, where I was able to speak at the United Nations.
“Being an MSYP is an amazing opportunity.”
Anyone aged 14 to 25 can stand for in the election in November but candidates must register before June 30.
