Rugby players to honour Craig with charity walk

- Craig Grumoli

Paisley Rugby Club members will swap their studs for walking boots as they scale Ben Lomond to raise vital cash for SAMH.

They are collecting for the charity in memory for senior player Craig Grumoli, who sadly took his own life in 2012.

The men and women’s squads will take on the 3,196ft hike today as they back SAMH’s Speak Up campaign.

A clubs spokesman said: “Craig was a more than just a player at the club, he was a friend to the whole squad and no one had a bad word to say about him.

“He was a mental health nurse and listened to other players’problems, helping where he could.

“Craig is missed every single day by friends who are now stalwarts of the senior club.

“Craig didn’t speak out when times were tough.

“As a club, we are promoting mental healthand well-being every single day and we encourage everyone to speak out about mental health.”

Members have already raised more than £200 for SAMH. To donate, visit https://bit.ly/3goBaap
