Charity aims to weave people together as it unveils brand new logo
Active Communities celebrate another big change
Weaving people together is the theme of the striking new logo launched by Active Communities.
The Johnstone-based charity, which runs several activity and community groups across Renfrewshire, has launched its colourful new logo.
Earlier this year, Active Communities won a place on the 2021 Brand for Growth programme, run each year by Community Enterprise, backed by the Scottish Government’s third sector division and delivered by ethical brand specialists, Bold Studio.
Since then, staff, volunteers and members have been working with Bold Studio on a revitalised brand for Active Communities.
It comes as the charity enters the final stage of taking over the former Johnstone Police Station and turning it into a new, vibrant and welcoming community hub called Station 7, due to open early next spring.
CEO of Active Communities
Susan McDonald said: “Our new building and new vision inspired us to develop a new brand that will tell the story of our journey, our building and our ambition to connect and deliver positive change in our communities.
“It marks a pivotal moment as we move towards taking possession of our new home in the former Police Station in Johnstone.”
As part of the development project, staff from Bold Studios met virtually with Active Communities staff, volunteers and partners where they asked the question, ‘what does Active Communities mean to you?’. It concluded that the charity, its staff and volunteers value teamwork and action, strive for excellence and are trustworthy.
The group also inspires and influences people, has no barriers to people being involved and is optimistic and helps to find the bright side for people, as well as being the bright side for people.
The theme was woven together and the new logo aims to show the connections made by Active Communities.
Susan added: “The concept of this branding is ‘Weaving Together’.
“The logo signifies a pegboard with yarn wrapped about, drawing ideas from Renfrewshire’s history and combining it with our ethos of connection. It is a vibrant and lively logo that truly represents us as an organisation. We wanted a brand which was vibrant and bold with bright, active colours reflecting who we are.”
Active Communities took over the former Johnstone Police Station in 2018 and plans to open Station 7 in early spring 2022.
It runs several community groups including Jogging Buddies, Buggy Buddies, Bike Buddies, a youth cafe, wellbeing programmes and befriending services.
