Charity duo up for national gongs

-

Two volunteers who work for a Renfrewshire women’s charity have been nominated for prestigious national awards.

Kate Clark and Ruth Hart, both volunteers for Kairos Women+, have been shortlisted for the Scottish Charity Awards, run by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

Ruth is a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category while Kate Clark is nominated for Trustee of the Year.

Katy Wilson-Scott, from Kairos Women+, said:“Both Kate and Ruth are making a transformative impact on their community by dedicating their time, energy and love to projects at Kairos

Women+.

“We wouldn’t be where we are as an organisation without our committed chair of trustees Kate, who is as involved in supporting women and project planning as she is managing the board.

“We are constantly inspired by our volunteer Ruth’s endless creative ideas and leadership skills in groups. They deserve your vote.”

Kairos Women+ is a charity focused on women and non-binary people which runs various projects and workshops from its base at Embroidery Mill, in Paisley.

It began in 2017 as part of Active Communities, but became an independent organisation last year and moved into its new Paisley premises last month.

Anna Fowlie, chief executive of SCVO, said:“The entries this year are as fabulous as ever and the 44 finalists come in all shapes and sizes.

“Every one of them is making a huge difference .

“They make Scotland a better place to live and I’m very much looking forward to meeting them in June.”

While a judging panel will determine the winners under nine categories, members of the public can have their say by voting for their favourite overall entry in the People’s Choice Award – by visiting scvo. scot/vote - before 5pm on Friday, May 20.
