Dargavel pupils take the biscuit
Youngsters create sweet treats with cafe for charity
School pupils have cooked up a sweet partnership with a local cafe.
The youngsters from Dargavel Primary in Bishopton have worked with Scoff & Patter to design, bake and create their very own Dargavel school jumper iced shortbread biscuit.
And the fetching blue and whitedesigned biscuits are now on sale in the cafe with profits going to a charity chosen by the school.
Deputy head teacher Tony Mayer said the collaborative project underpinned the new school’s aims.
He said: “We want to do all we can to be at the heart of Dargavel Village, ensuring that our new school vision of growing our community, achieving our potential, shaping our future, underpins all that we do.
“With this in mind, we endeavour to make links and work collaboratively with our school community partners to enhance the learning experiences of all our pupils and make sure that we develop and promote partnerships that have a positive impact on our learners and wider school community.
“One such example of this is our new and exciting partnership project with Scoff & Patter.”
The owner of Scoff & Patter, Carla Nugent, and Elaine Lynch, her baker and confectionery producer, visited the school to create the biscuits alongside the pupils from P1 to P4.
The youngsters then went along to the nearby cafe to help put them on display and drum up lots of sales from customers.
Tony added: “Carla and Elaine spent the morning at the school baking the biscuits along with the pupils. It was a superb day where everyone learned as well as having lots of fun!
“There was much excitement baking the biscuits and they are now currently on sale in Scoff & Patter.”
The current batch of biscuits were baked by the pupils but they will be a permanent addition to the cafe with profits going to a charity supporting people in Ukraine.
Carla said: “It has been great to collaborate with the school and meet all the children. As a small, familyrun business, we really value working with other important members of the community. It’s been so much fun!”
