The Spree festival will not be returning to Paisley this year, it has been announced.
The popular music, arts and comedy festival has been running in the town annually since 2012, but not anymore.
The news was shared with disappointed fans via social media and on the Spree’s website.
A statement published by a Spree spokesperson reads: “We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported The Spree festival since 2012 – our fabulous audiences, promoters and performers. We have loved bringing the festival to you!
“Sadly, The Spree will not be returning to Paisley, but our programme of gigs, events and performances will continue, with the reopening of Paisley Town Hall and the hosting of the Royal National Mòd this October, and the reopening of Paisley Art Centre soon after.
“We also want to thank all of our amazing local venues who continue to support music, comedy and festivals all across the year.”

The Spree was run by Paisley.is – an events and promotion branch of Renfrewshire Council.
The council has said that, following a review into the social and economic impact of its events, they’ve decided to go in a new direction, with a series of events planned throughout the year instead.
Last year, The Spree hosted a thrilling 10-day programme of events that took place at the iconic Spiegeltent in the town’s Bridge Street.
There was also a Wee Spree event in October with events designed especially for children.
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson, speaking to the Express yesterday, confirmed the news that both The Spree and the Wee Spree would not be returning.
They said: “The Spree and the Wee Spree will not be returning as part of our annual events programme.
“This follows a review of the social and economic impacts of council events and signals the launch of a new programme of vibrant and exciting arts and entertainment in the town.
“With the reopening of Paisley Town Hall and the hosting of the Royal National Mòd this October, and the reopening of Paisley Arts Centre soon after, Paisley’s programme of events, gigs and performances will continue, bringing thousands of local people and visitors to the town centre.
“Children and families will be able to enjoy events and activities across the October school holidays as part of the Mòd Fringe programme, OneRen’s children’s programme, StreetStuff and more.
