The Paisley Burgh Pool League continued at pace with Hashtag A dishing out a brutal 7-1 defeat on Red Fox that ended before the doubles even started.

Clippens A and Spateston served up a treat with a much closer 12 frame thriller that ended with both teams sharing the points.

Robert Robertson put the away side on the front foot by taking the first frame, with Clippens finding themselves 3-1 down after four.

Richard Harris pulled a frame back though, kick-starting a run of four wins that put Spateston back in charge.

After three doubles frames a decider was needed and it was Clippens pair Brian and Davy who combined well to secure a point for the hosts.

Jaybees clash with Hazel saw the away side win 7-4. The Johnstone team put four frames on the board before Jaybees Malky Kerr broke and finished to keep them in the game.

The Jaybees dug deep but in the end the Hazel team claimed the points to stay fifth in the league table.

Both Killoch teams faced each other in Neilston this week, with the A team running out 7-2 winners.

The A team quickly took a three frame lead before team captain Jamie Kerrigan knocked up a frame for the B team.

A team player Stevie Kerrigan put his team back ahead by three and they kept their foot on the gas, eventually securing the win in the ninth frame of the evening.

Lilybank’s match with Pockets A was another exciting game that went all the way.

The away team took an early lead when Craig Micheal produced a break and dish and left his opponent with nothing to do but admire from the sidelines.

Both teams took the lead at times, however James Spalding won the important eighth frame to put the Lilybank ahead at 5-3.

Jim Downie paired well with Derek Murray to keep Pockets hopes alive, inspiring their team to follow on who quickly won the following two frames to give themselves a chance of snatching a win.

But Lilybank had other ideas when they took control under pressure, earning a deserved point by clinching the 12th frame.

Patter Bar and Clippens B’s game saw the away side pick up their second win on the bounce. Their 7-4 victory moved them up a place in the table and handed the Patter team their third defeat in four weeks.

Pockets B took on Horseshoe and had it all to do up against the league leaders in what was always going to be a tough battle for the hosts on the felt.

After eight frames the away side were closing in an expected win having moved into a 6-2 lead.

And the points were sown up in the next frame after Kevin and John made it count to keep Horseshoe on course at the top of the table.

Pockets C and Hashtag B’s match provided the biggest upset of the week when newcomers Hashtag took a point from Pockets in a nerveracking 12 frame game.

The home team started well when Allan Clark got them off to the perfect start and by the four frame stage were up 3-1.

The Hashtag fought like warriors, hitting a four frame winning streak that saw them go into the doubles one frame ahead.

Pockets responded in kind by claiming the first two doubles to level the tight game up, before the Hashtag went in front again to head into the deciding frame needing just one more for an unlikely win.

But it was Pockets who hung in and owed teammates Scott and Alan, who rescued their side a point.

St Peter’s clash with Sammis was postponed and will be played next week during doubles finals week.
