St Peter’s pull off remarkable comeback to secure win

-

The Paisley Burgh Pool League witnessed an incredible comeback victory this week as one team seemed down and out only to then wrack off six frames in a row to claim victory.

The match saw the Hazel side host St Peter’s, the home team got off to a flyer and before St Peter’s knew it, they were 4-0 down after the first four frames.

However, St Peter’s pulled themselves together and managed to claim a frame, before Hazel then made it 5-1. Miraculously, St Peter’s then won the last six frames to earn a fantastic away win.

Elsewhere, Hashtag B vs Pockets B went to the wire, with both teams claiming frames throughout the singles, ending 4-4.

Pockets stepped up and took the next two frames for a guaranteed point before Hashtag’s Aaron and Connor kept their team in it but Pockets were too strong in the end and came away 7-5 winners.

Red Fox vs Clippens A saw the home team start horribly but came back well to bring it within one frame, but when Richard Harris won his frame Clippens took the lead 5-3. In the end a comfortable win for the Linwood team seven frames to four.

The Patter travelled to Neilston to play Killoch A and found themselves on the front foot winning the first two frames with help from Danny Hamilton however it was to be short-lived as the home team won the next four frames to take a two frame cushion.

The away team put another frame on the board but Killoch responded swiftly with another frame win by Alan Finnegan.

The doubles ended quickly with Killoch winning the two frames needed to take the points in a 7-3 win.

Horseshoe vs Jaybees saw the away team take the lead after a reverse break and finish from Jaybees captain Alan Wilson. It was the only moment in the game the Jaybees could celebrate as the Horseshoe rattled off seven frames on the bounce and showed why they are top of the league table.

The home side were clinical, with the game ending 7-1.

Pockets A took on second-place Hashtag A.

Jim McCorkell had pockets ahead and just when they felt close to the second frame Hashtag swiped it away and went into a 3-1 lead.

The home team took what turned out to be an important eighth frame to keep them in with a chance but Hashtag proved too strong in the end and Pockets ran out of steam which gave the Hashtag a 7-4 win.

Pockets C went to Linwood to take on the Clippens B team in what turned out to be a very comfortable night for the Paisley side.

A resounding 7-1 victory saw them get back to winning ways after a disastrous few weeks.

Sammis vs Lilybank was a very interesting game to say the least.

The away team took a commanding lead after winning the first four frames.

But then Sammi’s Stuart Carson stepped up to produce a nice clearance and helped his team get the game level at four frames each.

The doubles made the difference that separated both teams and on this occasion Lilybank found the form they had at the start of the match and wracked off three frames to claim the win and the points winning 7-4.

Spateston Vs Killoch B postponed for a future date.
