I’ll hit the heights to give poorest kids the best chance at life Adventurer Ryan will raise cash for orphanage during 20-peak climb

-

peaks with the hope of raising £20,000 to support s many children as possible.

Ryan’s company – The Pathway, based in Hillington – already sponsors Jessica at the orphanage, and through their donation of £1,000, the young woman has been able to complete the necessary training to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher.

The Pathway, which was originally founded in 2016 as the Stevie Kidd Pathway, works with thousands of peopleand businesses across Scotland transform their lives and realise their potential.

It is through this that Ryan, alongside his family, have been able to raise thousands of pounds for charities including MND Scotland and Finding Your Feet, which was founded by Lochwinnoch woman Corinne Hutton.

The business – which also has a charity foundation – was keen to give back to local causes in countries such as Tanzania and Nepal which supported them on their epic trips.

Because of this, Ryan says he knew he had to do whatever he could to help the organisation.

“That is at the core of what we do – helping people realise their potential and achieve their dreams,” he said.

“We work with grown adults to help them think bigger and that there is more to life than what has come their way. “I want to help the kids do that.

“So, that is a really important factor for me as we can help put these children all the way through the education system and give them the best chance.

“The organisations that work with us over there are always so supportive so we want to give back to them.”

However, while a £20,000 target is no small challenge, Ryan is hoping the people of Renfrewshire can help him achieve his other aim.

He explained: “We do have a number of businesses which we work with through our foundation, so I am confident I can raise the money through sponsorships. But it got me thinking about how else I could help, and I know for a lot of people money is tight too, so I thought parents having a clearout would be able to help as it would go a long way to making a massive difference.

“Where I do need help is with providing these children with toys and clothes as those things would be so appreciated over there.”

Ryan has already struck a deal with Qatar Airways to take over extra baggage on his next trip over – and he is hoping generous parents can help him fill the suitcases.

He has also contacted Rangers Soccer Academy who have agreed to donate clothing and sports equipment.

Ryan, who now lives in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, with Beth, 21 – who he proposed to in Greece just weeks after his 10 Peak Challenge – added: “My motto for this is to do good for others, simply because I can. I’d really appreciate anyone who can help me do that.”
