Defeat for Burgh

-

abundance of games in hand.

Burgh have six matches outstanding compared to Kilwinning Rangers who occupy the final going-up slot and nine in hand on leaders Petershill who they trail by 16 points.

They even have three more games to play than Drumchapel who are fourth so there is plenty of time to turn things round – but gaffer McKim knows it has to be better than what has been produced in this loss and the setback at Kilbirnie Ladeside.

“It was really disappointing,” he told club media. “The manner of the goals we conceded; the attacking threat that we have...it just wasn’t there for me.

“I thought we made it really difficult for ourselves after a bright first 15 minutes. We stopped doing the things well that we were doing.

“The first goal we concede is so, so cheap and that sets the tone for the rest of the game. I don’t think we recovered from that.

“We spoke at half-time about coming out for the second half and having a bright start but they get a second goal and the third kills the game.

“I just felt that, when we were in it, we didn’t pose enough of a threat going forward. We didn’t have enough quality and it’s really frustrating.

“In terms of it being two defeats in a row in the league, we’ve made it really difficult for ourselves but I have full confidence in the players.

“We just have to keep working and have belief in each other. We’ll get there, I’m sure of that.

Burgh have boosted their squad for the jam-packed run-in with

Conner McGlinchey and Darren Christie making their debuts against Drumchapel at the weekend.

“I think Conner and Darren will bring in great quality,” he said of the duo’s arrival in Johnstone.

“It was a difficult game for them to come into as Drumchapel are one of the best teams in the league but we’re having that wee bit where we are having to adjust again mid-season and have that settling in period.

“It’s not an excuse because anybody who watched this game will see we weren’t good enough and didn’t deserve to win.

“But what we will do is improve week on week. The players here are good enough to move on and be successful.

“We can’t afford to feel sorry for ourselves.”
