them and they don’t seem to care.

“He’s just another tourist to them – but he is a human being.

“When we first told them he was missing, they made us wait to see if he had travelled home. So, we travelled to the island and stayed for three weeks but, during that time, there was no police presence looking for Gary.

“If we do get any information, it’s from members of the public. It’s been a shambles and when [we go to see] the Spanish police next, in March, I don’t expect to get any answers.”

Celtic fan Gary checked into his hotel in Puerto del Carmen before heading to Bar 67, just a few minutes away. He was later picked up on CCTV lying unconscious in a doorway near the bar around 1.30am the following morning.

Police released more footage last August, showing him walking outside a Spar shop with an unknown man close by, but they have not been able to identify the stranger.

Sister Debbie, 49, also added that her family will never stop trying to find out what happened to her brother.

Debbie said: “We have been living in a nightmare for almost a year and we relive it daily. I don’t know how my mum and dad do it – going over to Lanzarote but not being able to bring Gary home – but they want to keep his name out there.

“We know people from last year who will be visiting again might have a little bit of information that could help piece it together.

“Just a couple of months ago, a woman contacted us after going through holiday memories and noticed Gary sitting next to her in Bar 67. That meant the world to us.

“We believe somebody knows something, nobody just disappears. We just want Gary back; we don’t have anywhere to remember him and haven’t even been able to put him to rest.”

Policía Nacional has been contacted for comment.

A range of up to 20 real ales – including five from overseas brewers – will be available at two Wetherspoon pubs in Renfrewshire during a 12-day beer festival.

The Last Post in County Square, Paisley and The Lord of the Isles in King’s Inch Road, Renfrew, are hosting the festival which began yesterday and runs to Sunday, March 17.

The pubs will serve a number of beers brewed specially for the festival.

As well as featuring a range of different malt and hop varieties from around the world, there are also beers that include sweet treats like chocolate and vanilla in their ingredients.

The Last Post manager Michelle Quinn said: “The festival is a great celebration of real ale. It will allow us to showcase a selection of superb beers, including those from overseas, over a 12-day period, at great value-formoney prices.

“It will also give our customers the opportunity to enjoy a number of beers which have not previously been available in the pub, as well as those brewed specially for the festival.

The beers will be priced from £1.99 to £2.49 a pint.

Three third-of-a-pint tasters will also be available for the price of a pint.

It’s been a nightmare for nearly a year and we relive it every day. I don’t know how mum and dad do it, going over to Lanzarote and not being able to bring Gary home. Sister Debbie
