Time to take silly seriously

COMIC Relief is just around the corner with it’s usual appeal to ‘Do Something Funny for Money’.

But you don’t have to embark on epic challenges like climbing Kilimanjaro or walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats – although that’s appreciated – to raise thousands for the favourite charity effort.

You can do little things with your family at home and still make a massive difference. Comic Relief has got loads of ideas for ways children and parents can take part and, like they say: “It’s time to take silly seriously!”

You can bake a ‘wonky, weird and wonderful’ cake with one of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day recipes.

If you’re brave enough, you can put your brain cells to the test with one of the quizzes they’ve created in a kids v. adults challenge.

Or you can get your dancing shoes on and have your own disco, dress up, or do something entirely different!

Samir Patel, CEO of Comic Relief, says: “As a parent myself I know the excitement that comes with giving children and young people the chance to unleash their silliest selves and so we hope the theme of this Red Nose Day – Do Something Funny for Money – will be a fun opportunity for them to let loose and plan something they really enjoy.

“And although we aim a lot of information at schools, you can get involved with your family at home.

“The money raised could help to provide shelter for those who need it, safe spaces for those in danger, support food banks, and help families affected by conflict and climate change in the UK and around the world.”
