Judo club has warmth at its heart thanks to Loganair

- CALAM PENGILLY

Paisley martial artists are sitting toasty in their dojo thanks to a donation that’s allowed them to install insulation.

Clyde Judo Club benefited from Loganair’s GreenSkies community fund as the airline handed over £662.76.

Currently in its 13th year of operations, the club offers martial arts training to children and young people throughout term time while also supporting local families and refugees through its year-round outreach programmes.

Glasgow Airport-based Loganair received nearly 250 applications for the latest round of funding and revealed it will distribute funds to seven successful projects including Clyde Judo Club.

With the cash, Clyde Judo Club will be able to insulate its dojo, creating a warm space for its students and the wider community while, at the same time, reduce heat loss into the environment.

Susan Wright, head coach at Clyde Judo Club, said:“We are incredibly grateful to have the chance to make improvements to our facility that will help insulate our dojo.

“This will hopefully bring in new members and give us more opportunity to support our local community at the same time as reducing our carbon footprint.”

Luke Lovegrove, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said:“Clyde

Judo Club has the opportunity to improve its facilities to benefit both the students who train there and the larger community within Paisley who it works with through outreach programmes.

“This funding will allow the club to create a warm space using environmentallyconscious materials.

“We’re proud to support Clyde Judo Club in making improvements to their facilities that will help them continue to support their community.”

The community fund is part of Loganair’s environmental GreenSkies programme which launched in July 2021.

To date, Loganair has invested over £80,000 in community renewable projects through the innovative scheme.
