Thrice as nice

A set of bouncing boy triplets from Paisley were allowed home, much to the delight of their parents Allan and Enid Drennan.

And we published exclusive pictures of the occasion, showing proud mum and dad and their big brother Allan Jnr, in March 1986.

Enid admitted: “We are having a few teething problems, as expected, but it’s really wonderful to have the boys home with us.”

And Allan Snr added: “I’m shattered – and they only came home two days ago.”

The blue-eyed trio came into the world on February 10, a couple of weeks premature, by caesarean section.

First born was Scott, weighing in at 5lbs 5oz, Craig was second at 5lbs, and lastly David arrived at 5lbs 9oz.

It was 12 days after the birth that doctors at Paisley Maternity gave the OK for the babies to go home.

“At the moment feeding time is every four to five hours ... that’s during the night too, of course,” said 33-year-old Allan, who owned a dress hire business in Wellmeadow Street.

“We are sharing all the work involved,” said Enid, 39.

“Allan has been very helpful, and so has our son Allan.

“He helps me a lot too.” Already, the couple were discovering that baby David was the quietest one and slept through anything – at least until feeding time – while Scott and Craig were still a little unsettled.

“Allan and I are about to work out a babysitter rota because so many of our family and friends have offered help,” explained

Enid.

Allan added: “Everyone has been very kind.”

Enid said she was planning to call Paisley’s other triplets’ mum Mrs Phyllis McLean to get a few “handy hints”.
