Hazel Nutz crack up under strain as Hagg Bar A hit the marks

-

This week saw a return to league action for the Paisley and District darts players – and in Division One Hagg Bar A continued their winning ways with a thumping 8-1 win over Hazel Nutz.

The win for Hagg Bar A keeps them on track to go through the season unbeaten while the loss for the Hazel Nutz keeps them stuck in 10th and looking at a return to Division Two if things don’t improve.

Pockets A keep a firm grip on second place and a 7-2 away win at Keystone made sure they keep the Hagg team in their sights as they sit four points behind the leaders. The loss for Keystone means they drop a place and now are in eighth.

New Saints continue to push for the top of the table following a crushing 8-1 win over Arthurlie Inns. They held on to third place but now with a two-point cushion due to results elsewhere. Arthurlie are still in ninth place and need to start winning games if they are to avoid a drop into Division Two.

The Midton retained fourth spot this week but now sit two points behind New Saints in third as a result of a fine display from Flying Horse, who inflicted a 6-3 defeat on the Midton team. The win for fifth-placed Flying Horse means they close the gap between them and Midton to just two points.

The easiest win of the week came for Clachan Arrows who were awarded a 9-0 walkover win over Court Bar as they couldn’t raise a team. The win for Clachan means they climb the table to seventh spot, on the same points as Keystone B but boosted by a nine-leg winning margin to be 13 legs ahead of the Johnstone team.

In Division Two, Hagg Bar C top the league for the first time in nine weeks following a successful trip to Pockets B, coming away with a fine 6-3 win to put them top of the pile again. The loss for Pockets B keeps them in eighth place.

Tartan Thunder slip to second on leg difference in the table after Gryffe Inn scored a 6-3 home win over the previous league leaders with the win keeping the Gryffe team in third place and two points behind the leading two teams.

Hagg Bar C and Tartan Thunder are on the same points total, but the Hagg team have a superior winning leg count, so they claim the top position but with the teams meeting next week something has to give. Tartan Rose are also in the hunt for a promotion place as they keep a hold of fourth place with a hardfought 5-4 over Clachan Bar giving them the points this week. Tartan Rose sit level with Gryffe Inn, both on 18 points with only two winning legs separating the teams. The loss for The Clachan Bar means they slip a place in the table and are now in seventh spot.

Clippens Inn also kept themselves in the hunt for promotion when they travelled to Pockets C and came away with the points after a thumping 8-1 victory. The loss for Pockets C keeps them rooted to the bottom table.

Midton Bowling Club are the only other team to improve their league position this week as they ran up a fine 6-3 winning scoreline at home to Keystone. The Midton team are now in sixth place while the defeat for Keystone keeps them in ninth place.

There were nine scores of 180 this week taking the total to 173 scored in league games this season by 83 different players. The current leader in the 180 count is Hagg Bar A captain Evander Stenson with a tally of nine this year. The fastest game of the week was a fine 14-dart leg from Pockets A player Darren Addison with the highest finish coming from teammate John McCallum who checked out on 115 in one of his games.
