DARTS LEAGUE LATEST

Things are heating up in the Paisley and District darts league, with only four games left to play.

This week’s Division One match-ups saw leaders Hagg Bar A consolidate their position at the top with a fine 6-3 home win over Keystone B. The loss for Keystone B keeps them in eighth spot for another week.

Pockets A continue to chase down the Hagg Bar team and a whopping 8-1 home win over Flying Horse keeps them in second and six points clear of the chasing pack. The loss for Flying Horse keeps them in fifth.

New Saints ambitions were dealt a blow this week as they travelled to Court Bar only to lose out in the last leg of the last doubles games to go down to a 5-4 defeat with the Court Bar pairing of Murray Houston and Isabel Irvine delivering the points for their team. New Saints stay third in the table but the loss means they are six points adrift of the top two. The win for Court Bar means they stay in sixth but they have now closed the gap to Flying Horse who lead them in leg difference.

The Midton are right behind New Saints in fourth spot and only now separated by leg difference after a tense 5-4 home win over Clachan Arrows with the loss for Arrows keeping them in seventh place, on the same points as Keystone B but ahead on leg difference.

The last game in the division was between the two teams at the foot of the table as Arthurlie Inns travelled to Hazel Nutz with the Hazel team looking to take their first points of the season, but it wasn’t to be their night as Arthurlie rattled up a fine 6-3 away win to stay in ninth place and give themselves a chance at staying in the division. The loss confirms Hazel Nutz relegation to Division Two.

In Division Two the top spot changed hands again this week with Tartan Thunder making the most of the home advantage to run up a hard fought 5-4 scoreline over Hagg Bar C to go two points clear at the top of the table. Hagg Bar C drop into second place as a result of the loss. Gryffe Inn stay in third spot and close the points gap between themselves and Hagg Bar C as they had a walkover win this week with Pockets C unable to field a team. Gryffe Inn and Hagg Bar C are now level on points, but Hagg Bar C’s superior leg difference means they get the all-important second spot. Pockets C remain in tenth place for the week.

Clippens Inn climbed the table this week as they made a move up to fourth place after a very close 5-4 home win over Tartan Rose. Clachan Bar also climbed the table this week to go up one place and into sixth after a fine 6-3 home win over Midton Bowling Club. Midton BC dropped to seventh, having inferior leg difference to Clachan.

The last game in the division saw Keystone host Pockets B and it was the visitors that came away with the points after a fine 7-2 win. The win keeps Pockets B in eighth place and in with a shout of progressing up the table in the coming weeks while Keystone, with only one win for the season look to be stuck in ninth spot.

There were 22 maximums recorded this week to take the season total to 195 with Pockets A player taking over the lead in the 180 table as he hit two to take his personal season total to 10. Stephen McCombe of New Saints and Mark Moohan of Keystone B also had two 180s this week.
