PAISLEY AND DISTRICT DARTS LATEST On fire Paul’s 170 finish equals best of season

Arrows were hitting the mark in the league doubles with 61 teams taking part in matches in eight different venues.

June McCallum was running proceeding­s at the Flying Horse with eight teams taking part, all looking for the sole qualifying spot. The last four teams were from Arthurlie Inns, Hagg Bar C (2) and Clachan Arrows with the Arthurlie team of Kevin Peacock and Scott Hay being the successful pair with a 4-0 win.

Venue Two was at Tartan Rose, run by George Millar, with another eight teams taking part. When it came down to the last four, Pockets A, Tartan Thunder, Tartan Rose and Hagg Bar A were represente­d and it was the Pockets A team of Chris

Coyle and Darren Addison who were the winners on the night with a 4-2 win in the final. They will face Kevin Peacock and Scott Hay in the first quarter final.

Venue Three at Hagg Bar was run by Allan Scott. After the first round of games were played the teams left were from Hazel Nutz, Court Bar, Pockets A and Flying Horse with the Hazel Nutz team of Robert Whitehill and Boab Gibson going through on a seventh leg decider. Clippens

Inn was Venue Four on the night, organised by John Steedman. The four teams left standing after round one were from New Saints, Clippens Inn, Clachan Arrows and Hagg Bar A with the winning team being Paul Hanvidge and David Carmichael of Clachan Arrows with a 4-0 margin in the final.

Venue Five was at Keystone where David Rayner was in charge. At the semi-final stage the teams left were from Pockets A, Court Bar, Hagg Bar A and Keystone B with the Hagg Bar A team of George Dempsey and Stuart Christie proving to be too good on the night as they got through on a 4-0 winning score.

Venue Six was Pockets, seven teams vied for the coveted last eight spot with Evander Stevenson running the venue. When it came to the last four teams they were from Tartan Thunder, Clachan Arrows, Hagg Bar

A and New Saints with the Hagg Bar A team of Evander Stevenson and Richie Baillie running out 4-0 winners.

Midton Bowling Club was Venue Seven, where another seven teams were involved. Scott Chalmers ran the venue. When the teams got down to the last four there were teams from Clippens Inn, Pockets A and Gryffe Inn left in the mix and when the dust settled after the final it was John McCallum and Brian Maley of Pockets A who won 4-0 win. Venue Eight was the Clachan Bar where John McCulloch was running the evenings games between the seven teams taking part and when it came down to the last four there were players from Tartan Thunder, Keystone B, Hagg Bar A and Flying Horse still in the tournament. Andy Boulton and Dean Fitch from Hagg Bar A were too strong as they rattled up their third 4-0 win of the night.

There were nine maximums recorded on the qualifying night with Hagg Bar A’s Stuart Christie bagging two.

There was a couple of 13-dart legs on the night as well with New Saints players John Williamson and Alan Ferguson being right on target as were the Hagg Bar A team of Evander Stevenson and Richie Baillie.

The best finish came from Clachan Arrows player Paul Hanvidge who equalled the season’s best of 170, another ‘big fish’ landed this year.
