Neilston’s bid to stay in the West of Scotland League First Division was dealt a huge blow after a narrow defeat to lowly rivals Maybole.

The Farmer’s Boys lost 1-0 to the South Ayrshire side in a tense battle at Brig O’Lea on Saturday.

It’s a result that leaves Neilston nine points adrift of safety with seven matches left.

Andy Whiteford’s side do have a game in hand on‘Bole who sit just outside the drop zone but it’s looking grim.

Johnstone Burgh’s First Division visit of Petershill was postponed while Renfrew had the day off.
