Bish’s promotion bid takes bit of a bashing
Second loss of season for Renfrewshire side
Bishopton began their final push for promotion from West Region League Division Two at the weekend.
The Renfrewshire side travelled to South Lanarkshire to face leaders Cambuslang and suffered a 32-19 defeat.
It was only Bish’s second league loss of the season but certainly a result they would not have wanted at this stage of the campaign.
Cambuslang landed some early blows in the opening 15 minutes that, ultimately, took the contest away from Bish.
The Ingliston Country Club player of the match for Bish, with two tries and several key tackles and turnovers, was awarded to
Callum Brown.
The Hampton and McMurray glue player award went to a returning Harry Seymour who came off the bench after an extended period away to put in several strong tackles and inject energy into the pack.
Bish are fourth in the table – eight points behind Cambuslang – but have three games in hand.
Next up is the visit of thirdplaced Uddingston at Holmpark this Saturday before a trip to Carrick, currently in second spot, on Saturday, April 13.
There are back-to-back home games on Saturday, April 20 and Saturday, April 27 against Waysiders/Drumpellier and Strathendrick, respectively.
Bish’s campaign could go right down to the final day when they travel to Lomond and Helensburgh on Saturday, May 11.
Meanwhile, Paisley wrapped up their home fixtures with a 78-0 thrashing at the hands of Strathendrick.
It has been a difficult season for The Anchor outfit who have one final game to play at Cumbernauld on Saturday, April 20.
