on an ambulance. During that wait, the 32-year-old grabbed a craft knife and cut her own wrist and then grabbed a kitchen knife and ran at the paramedic, forcing him to back into a corner.

The paramedic was forced to press his emergency assist button to call for help from colleagues and the police.

When cops attended, boozed-up Boyle was surrounded by alcohol miniatures and knives.

Procurator fiscal depute Matt Piskorz told Paisley Sheriff Court: “Stuart Anderson was on duty as a paramedic when we was tasked to attend Boyle’s home in relation to a complaint of shortness of breath.

“She appeared under the influence of alcohol and stated she had taken a quantity of cocaine.

“Anderson followed Boyle into the living room where she sat on the couch and allowed Anderson to begin his medical examination.

“The accused asked if she could have a cigarette while Anderson arranged an ambulance.

“Boyle then walked into the kitchen and Anderson saw her immediately obtain a craft knife and began to cut her left arm with it. Anderson asked Boyle several times to drop the craft knife which she complied with.”

The court heard how the paramedic moved towards Boyle, who was now “swinging” her injured arm around, however, he managed to apply a bandage.

Mr Piskorz explained: “As he stood up, he observed Boyle picking up a kitchen knife. Boyle began to run towards Anderson.

“The accused began to scream loudly as she charged forward with her arm outstretched holding the knife towards Anderson.

“Boyle charged down to Anderson who was now backed into a corner.”

The court heard how Anderson “managed to wrestle” the knife out of Boyle’s hands and police were alerted.

Mr Piskorz added: “Police attended and Anderson advised Boyle still had a knife.

“The accused was lying hugging the leg of the kitchen table. She was surrounded by kitchen knives and empty miniature glass bottles.

“The accused was arrested for assaulting an emergency service worker. She was taken to hospital. Her wounds assessed were superficial and only required healing.”

Defence agent Matthew Lynch invited the court to call for reports and reserved mitigation.

Sheriff Gillian Craig said: “I want to know more about you and what was going on that day. The witness was there to help you and he indeed did before you turned on him.”

Boyle will return to court on May 16 for sentencing.
