Flying Horse men brought back down to earth by Hagg A

-

After the excitement of the doubles finals last week, this Monday the darts throwers in Paisley and District turned their attention to the league again.

In Division One, the current pace setters Hagg Bar A kept themselves in prime position after a visit to Flying Horse delivered a 9-0 victory.

The unstoppable Hagg team now have 15 victories from 15 games and look to be on course to retain their title.

The loss for Flying Horse means they drop down a place in the table and they are now in sixth spot.

Pockets A also had a thumping 9-0 win at home to Clachan Arrows, to keep their hopes of claiming top spot alive, but the four-point gap to the Hagg team may be too much with just three games left.

New Saints keep a hold of third place, sitting six points adrift of Pockets after they came through 5-4 at home to The Midton. The Midton are two points below in fourth place.

Court Bar were awarded a 9-0 walkover after Arthurlie Inns couldn’t raise a team for their match-up. As a result, Court Bar climb a place in the rankings and are now in fifth place with Arthurlie staying in ninth place and look certain to be relegated.

The last game of the night saw Hazel Nutz claim their first win of the season as they travelled to near neighbours Keystone B and left with both points after a 5-4 victory. It will not be enough to prevent Hazel Nuts also being relegated to Division Two, with the side currently 10th in the table.

The loss for Keystone B keeps them in eighth place for another week. They are on the same points as Clachan Arrows but the Arrows have a better leg difference so they keep seventh spot.

In Division Two Tartan Thunder extended their run at the top of the pile to six weeks and with their opponents Pockets C unable to field they didn’t even have to throw a dart to stay top as they were awarded a 9-0 win. Pockets C stay in 10th spot.

Hagg Bar C continue to chase the Tartan team down and a very fine 8-1 home win over Keystone keeps them in contention for the title.

They are only two points behind the leaders.

The loss for Keystone means they stay in ninth place.

Third place this week belongs to Gryffe Inn, although they suffered a dent in their title aspirations when they lost out 7-2 to Tartan Rose. The win for Tartan Rose means they close the points gap on

Gryffe and are now only separated by a leg difference of two.

Included in the mix for third and fourth place are Clippens Inn after a hard fought 5-4 away win at Midton Bowling Club. Clippens now share fourth spot with Tartan Rose as they both have the same points and leg difference. The loss for Midton keeps them in seventh place for the week.

The last game of the night was at Clachan Bar where they hosted Pockets B and the home team ran up a 6-3 winning scoreline that keeps them in sixth place. The loss for Pockets means they stay as number eight in the table.

There were 10 scores of 180 this week, taking the season’s total to 205. The fastest game of the week came from Keystone B player George Dickson with a fantastic 14-dart leg. The best checkout came in the Pockets A v Clachan Arrows match with Arrows player David Carmichael hitting a 147 checkout.
