Bikers set wheels in motion for cash drive Time to gear up for fabulous charity event

- EMYLIE HOWIE

The much-anticipated Erskine Veterans Charity Biker Meet is set to be a cracker of an event next month.

The new-look event is set to be a fabulous day out on Sunday, May 26, as thousands of bikers and visitors flock to the charity’s Bishopton Veterans’ Village for an afternoon of family fun.

Erskine, Scotland’s foremost veterans’ charity, is kicking off the event, now in 18th year, with a dazzling motorbike parade arriving at the estate entrance at 1pm.

Hundreds of bikes, led by vintage cars, will be cheered into the village by the crowds lining the driveway which will include service men and women of the Royal Artillery, 7 Scots Company and 102 Field Squadron.

Then it’s on with the fun of the day. Live music, family entertainment and a variety of market and street food stalls will be set up within the grounds while the new addition of an inflatable village with bouncy tower and assault run promises to be a highlight for many.

Jennifer Campbell, Erskine’s events and sponsorship manager, told the Express: “Erskine is looking forward to welcoming back all the wonderful motorbike enthusiasts, families, and supporters to the annual Erskine Motorbike Meet and of course those brave enough to take on the Bungee Jump.

“Led by Erskine Ambassador Heather Clissett and supported by our amazing volunteers, the Erskine Motorbike Meet is an unmissable family fun day that raises vital funds for our veterans. Thanks to our friends at DXC Technology for providing a dedicated car park for the day and also to McGill’s for providing the shuttle bus.

“We hope everyone will join us to enjoy this year’s event.”

The action-packed programme also includes Viking reenactments and axe throwing, as well as the Erskine Bikers Bungee Jump for adrenaline junkies.

Dozens of daring thrill seekers have already booked their slot to jump 160 feet from a crane in front of the gathered crowd – and there are still slots available for those keen to join in the fun.

Those who would prefer to keep their feet on the ground can make the most of the many stalls on the day, arts and crafts activities or the disco.

Event parking has been made easy, thanks to some help from wonderful supporters.

A dedicated event car park has been kindly provided by neighbours at DXC Technology and signage will be in place on the day to guide people to the designated area.

A shuttle bus will operate between the car park and the Erskine estate thanks to McGill’s Buses.

Entry for bikes is a £5 donation and entry for visitors is £2 donation per person – kids go free.
