Johnstone Burgh and Arthurlie can move a step closer towards ending their Junior Cup droughts tonight.

The Renfrewshire sides meet at Keanie Park, pictured below right, for the second leg of their semi-final showdown.

The winners will advance to the final and face either Darvel or Auchinleck Talbot whose second leg was due to be played last night in East Ayrshire.

Burgh are looking to reach their first final in 24 years having not won the famous competition since 1968.

Interim manager Tommy Montgomery said: “It’s going to be a great night.

“I quite like the idea of the 5.30pm kick-off so hopefully we can go out, put a good shift in and get the right result.

“We’ve set it up so we’re hoping for a good crowd.

“These things don’t come round very often so it’s important that, when they do, we embrace it and give our all.”

Meanwhile, Arthurlie last won the cup when they were in the final in 1998. Manager

Colin Reilly was happy with his side’s firstleg performance at Dunterlie and said: “It’s going to take a lot of hard work and a lot of desire for us to win and get through to the final.”

‘Lie skipper Mark Docherty knows all about starring on the national stage having been part of the Alloa Athletic side which lost 4-0 to Livingston in the Challenge Cup final nine years ago.

He added: “It was a disappointing result but I enjoyed that occasion.

“The gaffer has been banging on about what this means to the club, the committee and the fans.

“Hopefully the boys can help get them to the final.”
