Dylan McGuigan insists he is “buzzing” for his first final after emerging as Arthurlie’s Junior Cup hero.

The 28-year-old fired home the winner on Saturday night to seal a 2-1 victory for the Barrhead outfit who prevailed over Johnstone Burgh 4-3 on aggregate.

‘Lie will now face West of Scotland League Premier Division rivals Darvel in the final at Cumbernauld’s Broadwood Stadium in North Lanarkshire on Sunday, June 2.

And the Dunterlie ace can’t wait to be a a newspaper star of the small screen with the silverware showdown likely to be broadcast live on BBC ALBA.

He said: “For me, I am absolutely buzzing. I’d never been to a semi-final never mind a final so I can’t wait for it.

“In the team talk, we were told how long it had been since Arthurlie were in the final and how good it would be for the club and the fans.

“I hadn’t really thought about the final being on the TV but it has hit me now!

“There was a few family and friends here for the second leg and I hope I’ll have a lot at the final.

“Everyone will be cheering us on.

“It was a tough game.

I managed to get the ball up to [Dylan] Dykes and he’s got it back across to me and I’ve hit it first time.

“It took a wee bobble and I thought it was going by the post but luckily for us it went in.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game coming here but we’re just delighted to get the win. We held them off well.”

McGuigan joined ‘Lie last summer – following boss Colin Reilly who moved over from Fullarton Park 13 months ago.

“I was at Vale of Clyde with Colin who left to come here,” he added. “We won the league and then I signed here at the start of the season.

“The league has been so close. We’ve not been bad on the park. We’ve conceded goals in the last 10 minutes or so but we’ve managed to do it in the cup.”

‘Lie will park their Junior Cup joy in a bid to stay in the Premier Division. They are eight points adrift of safety with five games remaining and host relegated Irvine Meadow tomorrow evening.

“Every week we are giving it our all so hopefully we can take this momentum into the Irvine Meadow game on Wednesday night,” he said.
