Bishopton completed a memorable campaign on Saturday by becoming champions.

The Renfrewshire side were already assured of promotion from West Region League Division Two.

But on Saturday, the Holmpark men added the icing on the cake by beating

Strathendrick 32-15 to lift the title with a game to spare.

Victory saw Bish leapfrog long-time leaders Cambuslang, who have played all their fixtures, and go two points clear.

There were scenes of celebration at time up with tributes paid to all those who have made this success happen.

The Ingliston Country Club player of the match against Strathendrick was the ever-dominant Louis Fraser who scored and was one of the strongest runners in the team.

Meanwhile, the Hampton & McMurray glue players were the entire squad of 49 that have turned out for the first XV this historic season for Bishopton.

A club spokesperson said:“Thank you to everyone who has joined us on this incredible journey this season and helped turn Holmpark into a fortress!

“Our men went undefeated at home all season thanks to the outstanding support we’ve had from you!

“There have been multiple moments in matches where your support has played a massive part in helping us over the line, so, to every spectator and matchday volunteer who’ve joined us, thank you, your support has meant everything.

“We’ll see you all in West One.”Bish round off their season on Saturday, May 11, with a trip to Lomond & Helensburgh. Congratulations to everyone connected with the club and see tomorrow’s Express for more pictures from the Holmpark party.
