- EMYLIE HOWIE

Unite has confirmed that another group of workers at Glasgow Airport has secured a major wage deal.

Around 80 workers employed by the OCS Group overwhelmingly accepted a new 10.9 per cent increased pay offer.

This represents a substantial hike in pay worth £12.20 per hour which is 20p an hour more than the real living wage.

The 2024 pay deal is another double digit pay increase for the OCS workers who received an 11.1 per cent increase in 2023. OCS Group workers aid passengers with reduced mobility issues to navigate their way through the Paisley transport hub.

This includes assisting passengers with wheelchairs and operating the ambilift vehicles for aircraft.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said:“Unite has secured double digit wage increases for our OCS members two years in a row.

“It’s another good wage deal for our members at Glasgow Airport. Unite is fully determined to enhance the jobs, pay and conditions of our members across all Scottish airports.”

Last week, Unite announced a major pay deal for ABM workers at Glasgow airport which raises basic hourly pay to £12.10 per hour. The deal represents a victory for ABM cleaners in a longrunning union campaign to have basic pay levels sustained above the real living wage level.

Unite is also set to launch a‘New Deal’ for Scottish aviation workers ahead of the busy summer period which will focus on enhancing the jobs, pay and conditions of its members across all Scottish airports.

Pat McIlvogue, Unite officer added: “The OCS wage deal has secured enhancements to pay, terms and working conditions.

“Unite is determined to ensure that across all employers at Glasgow airport the real living wage as a minimum is secured.

“The OCS deal delivers this objective and it gives a significant boost to our members’income over the course of the next year.”
