O’Hara: Buddies will have no fear facing The Dee

Skipper has full confidence in his team-mates

Mark O’Hara has backed his St Mirren team-mates to meet the moment when they face Dundee today.

The Buddies skipper is confident lessons will have been learned from last week’s 2-1 defeat to Rangers.

Saints put in an excellent performance against the Light Blues and were bitterly disappointed to come away empty-handed.

Boss Stephen Robinson praised his players for their efforts – but insists the time has come for them to get points not plaudits.

And O’Hara admits the dressing room feels exactly the same way as they prepare for their Euro crunch on Tayside.

The 28-year-old from Barrhead said: “The feeling last week after the Rangers game was disappointment because we were well in the game and it could have gone either way.

“We had some good chances and it comes down to mindset. We need to get better in these situations and believe we can.

“We’re more than good enough and the manager’s feelings replicate those among the players because we know ourselves that – when you’re in those situations – you need to take care of them.”

He added: “I’m confident that, with the work we’ve been doing, in these next games we’re going to put that right.”

O’Hara believes it isn’t a case of winner-takes-all this afternoon.

“It’s obviously a massive game and it’s a brilliant opportunity for us but we have two home games left and this isn’t the be-all and end-all,” he said. “Whoever wins hasn’t sealed it. There are still three massive games to play.

“Dundee have had a very impressive season. The manager has gone there and done well, they’ve got some good players and are a very good team – a bit like ourselves.”
