talented team battling it out against their European counterparts by getting there on foot.

The first leg of his challenge will see him walk from Glasgow to Hull, East Yorkshire, which he hopes to complete in 12 days. He will then take the ferry to Rotterdam in Holland, and cross six countries before reaching Germany.

On Saturday as he left Glasgow – where family and friends gathered to wave him off, Craig said:“The road to Munich seems a long one now but oh my God am I ready. That [send off ] that was a special, special moment that I will live with for the rest of my life. Being sent off by my friends and family, thank you so much everyone.

“Here we go, Munich, I’ll see you in about a month.”

At the end of day one, Craig arrived in Carluke where he stayed the night. On Sunday, he set off for Peebles, around 30 miles from Carluke.

Craig has raised an incredible £15,926 for Brothers in Arms so far, smashing his initial goal of £10,000 and so has set himself a new target of £50,000.

Dan Proverbs, founder of Brothers in Arms, said:“We are over the moon that Craig has chosen to raise funds for Brothers in Arms through his incredible mission. He is quite literally walking the talk, and in doing so will help break the silence around male mental health and the urgent need to tackle rising suicide rates. We will be supporting Craig all the way and urge everyone to do the same.”

Scotland face Germany in the opening match of Euro 2024 on Friday, June 14 before tackling Switzerland on Wednesday, June 19 then Hungary on Sunday, June 23.
