DJs Maria McColl and John Price will be spinning the tunes for a special night of Northern Soul Classics at The Bungalow tonight. Free entry and doors are 7pm.

Looks like another busy afternoon tomorrow. Saturday afternoon is the new Saturday night.

Pop in and listen to some of the very best in big band, jazz and swing from The Bobby Deans Big Band.

The Southmarti­ns are back at The Bungalow. After one of the best gigs of 2023, Alan McEwan of The Bungalow said: “We’re delighted to announce that Andy, Naomi and the band are back at The Bungalow for another great gig like last time.

“They will be taking a trip through the hits and bits of the Beautiful South and the Housemarti­ns. The band deliver an energetic show that brings the crowd along with them for the best singalong night of the year.”

Expect tunes like Happy Hour, Old Red Eyes Is Back, Song For Whoever, Me and the Farmer, Don’t Marry Her, Perfect 10, Caravan of Love and many, many more to fill the room with joy. Check Skiddle for tickets. Doors 7pm.

The popular Sunday afternoon sessions at The Bungalow continue with Sound Affex, an early years Jam tribute singing all the hits from ‘The Best Band in the World’.

Free entry and doors are 1pm. Tuesday is the Bungalow Jam Open Stage Night. The Jam House Band will be there to entertain everyone and help any performers that want a bit of backup or want to jam it out.

All backline and drum kit provided just bring your instrument­s. Doors are 7pm.

The Bungalow are excited to welcome The Revenants, 21st Century Mayans and Grant Smith for their Thursday Introducin­g Night.

This is an ideal opportunit­y to see what new bands are emerging. Tickets on the door from 7pm.

Jamie Angus is back at The Keg tonight from 9pm and tomorrow night, also at 9pm, it will be Gordon’s Alive. Heather of The Keg said: “They say they are one of the best rock cover bands to roll through this town.”

I saw them recently at The Cave and I think she might be right.

The band has a great set featuring the best guitar driven rock tunes ever written delivered with lots of energy with a great stage presence.

The Keg Sessions, an original music night, starts at 9pm on Thursday.

Dirty DC, an AC/DC tribute, are at The Old Swan tonight. If you love songs like Highway to Hell, Dynamite and Long Way to the Top this is for you.

Tickets on the door or give them a call. Support is Abbey Road. Doors are at 7pm. Lee James will be in his usual slot on Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm. Lee will be singing all the songs from past decades from pop to big band classics. Live acoustic sessions are Monday 4pm and Wednesday 4pm, Saturday’s live band starts at 4pm and on Sunday the Soul Club starts at 4pm.

The Cave has Sonorous in at 8pm tonight and tomorrow afternoon is The Paul Weller Experience at 2.30pm followed by The M65’s at 7pm.

Overdrive start at 6pm on Sunday. Kennedy’s have Moonrock on Sunday and they kick off at 3pm while, over at The Inn on the Corner, Rumours will be playing from 4.30pm. Robert McIntosh will be performing at The Tile Bar on Thursday from 4pm.

Open Mic/Stage sessions next week are: The Abbey at 9pm on Monday, Ugly Duck on Monday at 7pm, The Gantry at 9pm on Tuesday, The Bungalow on Tuesday 7pm, The Keg on Wednesday at 8.30pm and The Cave from 9pm on Thursday.
